NSW Youth Centre Adopts SALTO Access Control

When the Bellingen Youth Hub wanted to replace its mechanical keyed security system, it turned to local security specialist Adam's Coffs Coast Locksmith for advice.
Located in the small town of Bellingen on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, the Hub has Youth Workers on-site five days per week. It supports the Bello Youth Clinic which has a Doctor and Mental Health practitioner available weekly and Tuesday to Friday the centre is open after school for “drop-in” with activities and facilities for youths including use of the study and music rooms.
During the week the centre is also used for various school and ‘closed’ events or simply hired out to the local community. The Hub is a vital part of the Bellingen community and gives local youth’s essential safe space, and provides training and learning opportunities in crafts and activities not found anywhere else in the area.
A key element of the hub’s operation is ensuring that the building can be properly secured and after an on-site meeting to discuss their needs and survey the doors, it was decided to install SALTO’s online electronic locking solution as the system best suited to their requirements.
Adam Gilmore, Owner of Adam's Coffs Coast Locksmiths, says “The three key things that the Hub wanted from this security upgrade were wireless, ease of access control and no mechanical keys. The SALTO solution we recommended scored on all three points.
All the stand alone electronic locks are battery operated, with the lack of hard wires being an important consideration for the customer. They find the wireless functionality of the XS4 solution particularly useful, enabling them to add or delete access privileges simply and quickly and the system can easily grow to meet any future security requirements as and when required.”
The SALTO XS4 platform combines electronic door locks, peripherals and software, into one customizable wire-free networked electronic access control solution. Everything fits, everything functions. It provides total control over who is able to access what, where and when at all times.Access rights can be updated, restricted or deleted remotely, and it can be integrated with CCTV, alarm, time and attendance or other systems as required.
Dean Besley, Manager at Bellingen Youth Hub, adds “Replacing our mechanical keys with electronic access now gives us so much more control over our building security enabling us to provide a secure environment for all our staff and visitors alike.”
