One of the principal problems with doors secured by conventional keyed locks is key control. Managing keys is a nightmare for most building operators as keys are easily lost or duplicated. Add to this the fact that if there is a security incident involving the master key, the cost of re-keying the building can easily justify the installation of an electronic access control system.
